Yes/No

Let me start this by asking you if you dislike someone who is a bully.

If your response is an “obvious yes” then you’ll get this insight straight away.

If someone in your life is treating you in a way that isn’t right, by this I mean if you’re being treated in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable then you have to stand up for yourself.

This may sound obvious believe me I wasn’t even sure if I should be including this insight here but something inside told me that I needed to.

Have you noticed there are times we are more than willing to bend over backwards and do things for others than we would ever do for ourselves.

Have you had such an experience?

Maybe a loved one asked you for a favor and even at the cost of your own inconvenience you helped them out. Of course nothing wrong with helping a loved one out but I have a pet peeve when you help others at the cost of your

own peace of mind, time, or even convenience..

Sometimes, people may take your kindness for granted and may constantly keep asking from you and you may not know how to say no..

I want you to hear me loud and clear when I say that you do not have to say

yes simply because someone asked you to do something. “Saying no, I’m busy or I don’t want” is a perfectly reasonable and completely acceptable response.

The reason this is extremely important to internalise is because we may do more for others than we do for ourselves. There’s a time and place to be kind toward

others but it’s certainly not at the expense of yourself.

If you have trouble turning down a request then you’re opening yourself to being bullied. And bullying looks different. It doesn’t always have to be aggressive, it can be subtle and appear in the form of being taken for granted to do things you don’t want to do.

If you have trouble saying no, I understand this may take some getting used to which is why you’ll need to practice. Head over to the Insights to Action challenge to start practicing this.
